Gone Fishin'

When I arrived in Baton Rouge, Louisiana on Sunday I was confronted not only with a dull overcast day but with very little to photograph, downtown was boring, and pretty much everywhere else was either deserted or too rough to even think about getting out of the car.

Just as I was about to head back to my accommodation the sun emerged through the clouds so I went off to just about the only place I thought I could possibly make a decent picture, the old bridge over the Mississippi. As I walked along the top of the levee I came across Donald and a few of his friends fishing down by the river. While I was there nothing decent was caught but they were optimistic that after dark was the best time to catch some quality catfish.

Roaming the Natchez Trace

As I drove down a quiet stretch of the Natchez Trace Parkway towards Natchez Mississippi I came across these 3 local boys walking down the middle of the road. I quickly pulled to the side of the road for a chat and to make a portrait, they were apparently off to explore another section of the original Old Natchez Trace, a 444 miles historic pathway between Natchez Mississippi and Nashville Tennessee used by Native Americans as well as European and American explorers, traders, and emigrants.

Over 2000 Clicks In

Over the past 4 days I have driven just over 1,300 miles (~2000km) through 9 states. It will be the most intense days of driving on my trip, from this point forward I will only travel around 150 miles or less each day.

I don't have the time right now to write a detailed caption or story line for the image tonight however I will leave you with basic caption details below and leave the rest up to your imagination.

On The Road Again...

...Goin' places that I've never been,
Seein' things that I may never see again...

Well now that you all have that song stuck in your head, I will begin with my first post related to the 72 day long road trip I began today. At 10am I set off from New York City and while motoring through a torrential downpour with the sole intention of getting as far from New York as possible, I made it to Fredericksburg, Virginia.

The weather is due to fine up over the coming days and I look forward to making regular updates of my travels.
